Demand for formation of Eighth Pay Commission
Many employees of the Central Government are continuously demanding the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission, however, no such decision has come out from the government which can give information whether the government is in the mood to form a new pay commission or not.
Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Choudhary had said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on July 30 that two applications have been received for constituting the Pay Commission on June 24, 2024 and no consideration has been given by the government on it yet.
The Seventh Pay Commission was constituted in February 2014 in the country, whose recommendations were implemented on 1 January 2016. Apart from this, a new Pay Commission is constituted every 10 years to review the salaries of government employees and a lot of time has passed since the formation of the last Pay Commission, due to which the wait for the formation of a new Pay Commission is increasing.
