What is the Prime Minister’s Vishwakarma Scheme?
PM Vishwakarma Yojana was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 1 February 2023, under which the government provides training to citizens who start their own business and also provides assistance at the rate of ₹ 500 per day during the training. After this, assistance amount of ₹ 15000 is provided to the beneficiaries to buy tool kit.
Under the scheme, a loan of up to ₹ 200000.00 is also provided without any guarantee to start one’s own business, on which an interest rate of 5% to 8% is charged. A budget of Rs 13000 crore has been prepared by the government for the operation of this scheme from the financial year 2024 to 2028. Artisans and craftsmen who work traditionally and with their hands and tools are eligible to apply in this scheme.
